He was predeceased by: his parents, James P. McMahon and Margaret McMahon Sr. (Mann). He is survived by: his wife Diane (Makos); his children, Dolores Borsani (Dennis) of Millville, Joseph McMahon Jr. (Stephani) of Hopewell, Phillip McMahon (Michelle) of Vineland, Jennifer Rehmann (William) of Millville and Daisie Mae; his siblings, James McMahon Jr. of Millville, Robert McMahon (Janice) of Millville, Raymond McMahon of Millville and Maureen Ziegler of Millville; and his grandchildren, Howard Tomlin, Mark Tomlin, Dean Tomlin, Casey Rehmann, Irelyn, Eryn McMahon, Rebecca Rehmann, Marcella McMahon and Gabby McMahon. He is also survived by eight great grandchildren.
