He was predeceased by: his parent Lewis D.; his wife Jean Louise Compton (Hoffman); his son Jeffrey S. Compton; and his sister Erma King. He is survived by: his parent Jeannette B. Compton (Stires); and his children, Lewis R. Compton (Linda) of Holland Township, NJ, Deborah Shenberger of Holland Township, NJ, Nancy Compton (James) of Holland Township, NJ and Kathleen Shive (Randy) of Palmer Township, PA. He is also survived by grandchildren, and sixteen great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Frenchtown American Legion Post 113, 510 Harrison St., Frenchtown, NJ 08825, to the Mount Pleasant Cemetery Association, 564 Spring Mills Road, Milford, NJ 08848, or any Masonic charity.
