He was predeceased by: his parents, James Henry and Nellie Gardenier; his daughter Barbara Boogertman; and his siblings, Lois Elliot and Harvey Gardenier.
He is survived by: his wife Marilyn Gardenier; his children, Karen Van Der Wall (Rich), John M. Gardenier (Christine) and Kevin J. Gardenier; his son-in-law David Boogertman; his grandchildren, Richard Van Der Wall, Jr. (Tara), Jaclyn Van Der Wall, Alexa Bias (Joe), Lindsay Zipperlen (James), Jacob Boogertman, Mark and Christopher Gardenier; his sister Joan Martin; and also, Richard Van Der Wall III and Olivia Zipperlen.
