He was predeceased by: his parents, Martin O'Brien and Helen O'Brien (Lynch); his wife Joan O'Brien (Hemmerly); and his siblings, Mary, Martin, Robert, Donald and Richard.
He is survived by: his children, Joseph F. O'Brien, Jr. and Jennifer Cannon (Christopher); and his granddaughter Brianna.
Visitation was held on Thursday, February 13th 2025 from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Shore Point Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc. (3269 NJ-35, Hazlet, NJ 07730). A burial was held on Friday, February 14th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Holy Cross Cemetery North Arlington (340 Ridge Rd, North Arlington, NJ 07031).
