We are sad to announce that on October 25, 2022, at the age of 70, Eric F. Vowinkel of Metuchen, New Jersey, born in Phillipsburg, New Jersey passed away. Leave a sympathy message to the family on the memorial page of Eric F. Vowinkel to pay them a last tribute.

He was predeceased by: his parents, Fred Vowinkel and Jane Vowinkel; and his sister Roxanne Benetsky. He is survived by: his children, Laura O'Neill (Chris), Eric Vowinkel and Christopher Vowinkel; the mother of his children Susan Vowinkel; his grandchildren, Claire and Ryan O'Neill; his sisters, Linda Cuper and Lauren Blackford (Tom); and his brother-in-law Mark Benetsky. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Frank Burns Memorial Scholarship.

“To the Vowinkel family, My deepest condolences & sympathy to you during this difficult time. Eric hired me in 1999 & was my first supervisor at the USGS. I always found him to be approachable and someone who enjoyed a good laugh. Since he retired, we've seen each other time & again at golf or at various events & we always joked and laughed about how my still being at the USGS NJWSC was his fault! Take comfort in knowing Eric will be missed and his legacy lives on at the NJWSC. Jen Shourds”
