She is survived by: her sister Margo Frahm Ruthven; her children, Kirk Smith (Celia), Craig "Bones" Smith, Leslie Smith Navarino and Steffani Smith Adaska; her grandchildren, Kyle Smith, Benjamin, Megan Smith, Tommy, Michael Glancey, Troy, Tristan Navarino, Kiah and Ethan Lane; and her great grandchild Nellie.

“I wish to express my deepest condolences to the family of Karen Smith. I grew up across the street from her home and had many pleasant and enjoyable conversations with Karen. She was always friendly, engaging and interested. Browning Court was made more colorful and enjoyable with her as a neighbor. Karen was also a very talented gardener, chef, seamstress, etc. and I was always impressed with her ability to accomplish many things. I am confident she will beautify heaven with her gardening.”
