He is survived by: his wife JoAnn L'Tainen Tate; his children, Kristine Tate Kiely (Philip), Peter John Tate, Jr. (Karen) and JoAnn Tate Hartley; his grandchildren, Tate William Hartley, Lily Hartley and Antonia Tate; and his nieces, Margaret Salinger and Beth Sylvester.
