He was predeceased by: his son Sigmund Borstad. He is survived by: his wife Margaret Borstad of McAfee, NJ; his daughter Mary-Ann Borstad of New Smyrna Beach, FL; and his granddaughters, Melanie Garner of Philadelphia, PA, Kara Joustra of Gainesville, FL and Molly Jeffcoat of Newberry, FL.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Karen Ann Quinlan Hospice Foundation, 99 Sparta Avenue, Newton, NJ 07860.

“I consider myself very fortunate to get to know Dan over the last 25 years. He was without a doubt the hardest working man I ever met. Whenever he came in my business, I made a point of stopping whatever I was doing so I could chat with him. He was always a pleasure to spend time with. My thoughts and prayers are with the entire Borstad family at this time. I will definitely miss this wonderful man. Ron and Barbara Williams, and the staff of McAfee Hardware.”

“I was so sad to hear the news of Dan‘s passing today. I had the distinct pleasure of getting to know Dan during my time renting space from him in Viking village as we watched our businesses grow.
