He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, John and Ida Steimle, Sr. (Rupprecht); his wife Kathryn Steimle (Kohring); his son Robert; his daughter-in-law Jane Steimle; and his granddaughters, Emily Steimle and Susan Hall (Justin).

In lieu of flowers, memorials in John's memory may be directed to the National Parkinson's Foundation, 200 SE 1st Street, Suite 800, Miami, FL 33131.
