He was loved and cherished by many people including: his wife Jane; his daughters, Stephanie (Ryan), Jessica Fenton (Sean) and Deanna Kelchner (Daniel); and his parents, Margaret Lugo and Henry Lugo. He was also cherished by five grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in John's name to The Exchange Club of Ocean City Scholarship Fund, PO Box 657, Ocean City, NJ 08226.
