Vincent R. Salcito Obituary

Vincent R. Salcito of Marlton, NJ, formerly South Philadelphia, passed away on April 3rd, 2025, at the age of 95.

Born to the late Dominick and Laura (nee Venuto) Salcito on May 26th, 1929, in Philadelphia, PA. Vince is reunited in death with his siblings Paul Salcito and Marie Miserendino. Growing up in South Philly, Vince spent most of his days with his neighborhood friends playing stickball or helping his mom in the kitchen making her delicious pasta and gravy. Vince attended South Philadelphia High School as the graduating class of 1947. While a teenager his first car was his prized possession, his Buick. He loved that car; he spent many hours working on it and took pride in his handiness.

As Vince was growing into adulthood, he found a career as a Vending Route Salesman for Aramark. Part of his job was to stop at locations along his route, which led him to meeting the love of his life, Ann (nee Ferguson). Vince's persistence and charm led to Ann finally saying yes to a date. The pair immediately became inseparable and married on November 5, 1955, in Philadelphia, and spent a loving 69 years together. As a couple, they enjoyed traveling to the west coast of The United States, Canada, and several cruises. Vince and Ann also enjoyed trying new restaurants and going to the local diner. Vince and Ann decided to share their love by welcoming their beloved children, Debra (Gregory) Clark, Vince Salcito, Richard (Irene) Salcito, the late William (Connie) Salcito, and Dominic (Yupin) Salcito. Vince loved being their father, he wanted to provide a loving home for his family the way his parents did for him. Vince and Ann hosted many family picnics in their backyard, pool parties in the summer, and of course Sunday dinner. As his children got older, they gave Vince the greatest gift of all, his 11 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. He enjoyed spending time being surrounded by the laughter and joy his family and friends provided. He spent many trips to the Jersey Shore with his family and honorary daughter Rose Salcito and enjoyed spending time together with their tradition of Saturday Night Pizza.

Vince is a proud veteran of The United States Army during the Korean War. His knowledge of mechanics granted him access to maintenance and warfare within the Tank Division. He is a member of The American Legion, and one of the original parishioners of St. Joan of Arc Church in Marlton, NJ. Being a South Philly native, Vince was a die-hard Flyers fan and bled green for the Birds. Vince enjoyed his career at Aramark, his infectious smile and laughter brought joy to his many customers until his retirement. As much of a hard worker as Vince was, retirement was hard for Vince. He enjoyed staying busy and helping others where he could. He filled his time with working for Sears Home Building where he could help customers with his building and mechanical skills. Vince was always ready to lend a helping hand, whether it was a small task or a large project, Vince was there when you needed him.

Vince will be remembered fondly for his love of his family, his charismatic personality, and his generous heart.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend Vince's visitation on Wednesday, April 16th, 2025, from 10:30am-12:30pm at Givnish Funeral Home, located at 398 E. Main Street, Marlton, NJ, 08053, followed by a funeral ceremony at 12:30pm. Vince will be laid to rest immediately following the funeral ceremony at BG William C.
