He was predeceased by: his wife Kathleen Kunz Knowles; and his parents, James Knowles Sr. and Yetta Brown Knowles. He is survived by: his children, James Knowles, III and Debra Fastuca (Stephen); and his grandchildren, Nicholas, Jessica and Alexandrea.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research.
