He was predeceased by: his parents, John Mahan and Agnes Mahan (McSweeney); his siblings, John, Rose and Winifred; and his son-in-law Edward McClusick.
He is survived by: his wife Marguerite Mahan (Galvin); his children, Richard E Mahan (Lynne), Marguerite Yeoman (Bruce) and Colleen McClusick; his grandchildren, Jennifer, Michelle, Brian, Amanda, Lauren, Shane, Colin and Shannon; and his great grandchildren, Cole, Emma, Rhiannon, Jake, Matthew, Damon and Nyla.
