He was predeceased by: his parents, Abraham'Al'Axelrod and Sadie'Sonie'Israelowitz; and his brothers, Daniel and Wallace Axelrod. He is survived by: his wife Susan Ponder Axelrod; his children, Henry Axelrod, Sharon Johnsen and Melissa Axelrod; his stepchildren, Andrew Cymes, Alison Cymes and Renee Rockefeller Falco; his stepbrother Stephen Pelman; his half-sister Rita Marie Krajick Bagnoni; and his granddaughters, Katherine, Juliette Axelrod and Jane Johnsen. He is also survived by his nephews and nieces.
At the request of the family, in lieu of flowers, donations to cancer research in his memory would be appreciated.
