Bob McLoughlin wrote a sympathy message

“We were partners as Fire Marshals and we did our job extremely well. There were many times when we found ourselves in situations where one had to think and react in a matter of seconds. We had supreme confidence in each other’s abilities and sound judgement at those critical times when anything less could have a very different result. Once Jack retired my job was never the same so I too retired less than 3 months later. He was a great man and an even better friend. Bobby McLoughlin FDNY”
