He was predeceased by: his parents, John Wood and Virginia Wood; and his wife Madeline Wood. He is survived by: his children, David P. Wood Jr. (Nicole) and Tracy McCarty (Jamey); his brother John Wood (Betsy); his grandchildren, Molly, Sadie McCarty, Ayla and Leo Wood; and his stepsiblings, Florence Byrne, Kathy Lauletta, Mary Salamone, Donna Boyle Huff and Edwin Boyle.

Visitation was held on Friday, January 3rd 2025 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Maxwell-Tobie Funeral Home (573 Mill Creek Rd, Manahawkin, NJ 08050). A Mass of Christian burial was held on Saturday, January 4th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the St. Mary of the Pines Church (100 Bishop Way, Manahawkin, NJ 08050). A burial was held on Saturday, January 4th 2025 at 11:15 AM at the St. Mary's Cemetery (283 Beachview Ave, Manahawkin, NJ 08050).
