He was predeceased by: his parents, Julia Ethel Otey Wheeler and Walter Lee Johnson Sr. (Poncho); and his siblings, Ethel Marshall, Harold Otey, Arthur Wheeler, James Wheeler, Truda Johnson, Steve Otey, Robert Wheeler, Walter Johnson and Olive Johnson.
He is survived by: his child Tashawn Haywood Corbett; his daughter-in-law Nickya Corbett; the mother of his child Lynette Corbett; his sisters, Francis Otey, Dorothy Bowles (Terry Bowles) and Donna Johnson; his former wife Nadine Morris; his stepchildren, LaTuya, Jenelle, James Jr., Ciara and Robert; and also, Betty and Pauline Corbett. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
