He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Walter Mayer and Edythe Mayer; his children, Dennis, Karen and Douglas Mayer; his wife Carol; his stepgrandchildren, Kim and Nicole; his great grandchild Penny Lane; and his stepgreat-grandchildren, Leah, Cameron and William. He was also cherished by his children, and nine grandchildren.
