He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Santiago Velez, and Eugenia Velez, Sr. (Diaz); his son Louis A. Velez; his sister Nilda Velez; his wife Carmen Santiago (Dones); his children, Eugenia Vazquez (John) and Victor Velez (Karin); his stepchildren, Edwin and Wanda Arzuaga; and his sister Rose Grady. He was also cherished by 7 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
