He is survived by: the mother of his children Mary Ellen Connelly; his children, Christina M. Howard (Gerald) of McLean, Virginia, Joseph V. Popolo Jr. (Christine) of Dallas and Julie A. Daley of Rumson; and his grandchildren, Katherine (Kit), Edward, Joseph V. III (Buck), Abigail, Eirann, Connor, Meaghan, Hugo, Ellis, Sean and Hannah.
