He was predeceased by: his mother Florence May Sviben; and his brother Edward Hughes. He is survived by: his children, Frederick and Haley Schellenger; his siblings, Steven Collison (Lindsay) and Amanda Cook (Jason); and his father Frederick A. Hughes, Jr. (Theresa McKenna). He is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, and cousins.
