Anna Marie Folmer Obituary
Anna Marie Folmer RN, BSN, M. ED, C.S.N, was born on February 29, 1932, to William J. O'Neill and Marion P. Miller in Wilmington, DE.
After graduating from high school, Marie graduated in 1954 from Delaware Hospital School of Nursing. Marie moved to NY to work at Columbia University Hospital, where she attended school and graduated in 1955. She moved to Trenton and worked as a nurse in many local hospitals. She began teaching nursing at Mercer Medical Center, Helen Fuld Hospital (Capital Health Regional Medical Center), Princeton Hospital (Penn Medicine Princeton Health), Mercer County Community College, St. Francis Medical Center, and many more. Later in her life, she became a school nurse at the Trenton Board of Education, where she retired in 2012 at the age of 80, after working for 20 years. Nursing was her life! Marie dedicated her life to nursing for 58 years and loved every minute of it.
Marie was also dedicated to the American Cancer Society, where she was an active member. She worked very hard at our local American Cancer Society to help cancer patients. She also loved NY and went back many times to shop. Every person she met she asked to go to NY with her. Many times, she would say she wished she had stayed in NY.
While working at Columbia University Hospital, Marie met and married Edward Joseph Folmer and had two children, Richard and Edward.
Predeceased by her parents, William J. O'Neill and Marion P. Miller; husband, Edward Joseph Folmer, and her son Edward James Folmer, she is survived by her twin sister Margarete E. O'Neill of Wilmington, DE; her cousin, Robert Carmine of DE; her son, Richard Edward Folmer and his wife Katherine of Lawrenceville, NJ, daughter-in-law, Lisa Folmer Davidowski of Mansfield, NJ; grandchildren, Richard Anthony Folmer and wife Tara Marie of Hamilton, NJ, Deanna Marie Folmer of Lawrenceville, NJ, Morgan Elizabeth Folmer of Lawrenceville, NJ, and Madison Elizabeth Folmer of Mansfield, NJ; one great-grandchild, Demi Grace Folmer of Hamilton, NJ; and many, many friends.
Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, June 22, 2022, at 1 p.m. at Colonial Memorial Park, 3039 S. Broad Street, Hamilton, NJ. 08610.
