He was predeceased by: his brothers, Thomas S. Matthews Jr. and John P. C. Matthews. He is survived by: his wife Lelia; his brother Alexander "Sandy" P. Matthews; his children, Thomas of Lambertville, NJ, Harry of Catskill, NY, Hyla Matthews Heyniger of Washington and Joshua of Brooklyn, NY; and his foster daughter Addie Andino of New Hope.
