She was 17. Born in New Brunswick, she was a lifelong resident of Kendall Park. Emily was a senior at South Brunswick High School where she was becoming an avid photographer through her photography class.
Her sister Kaylee was her favorite model. Emily had an innate love for all living beings from frogs to geckos to dogs and cats. She had wanted to become a dog trainer after she graduated. When Emily found an interest, she submersed herself in researching every fact about it. She could tell you anything you could want to know about her gecko's Mango and Melon.
Emily loved to do anything artistic. She found it very therapeutic to draw, paint and even make resin Jewelry boxes. Emily loved her daily walks through the neighborhood where her smile would greet anyone on her path and she would stop to pet any animal she encountered and chat with their owner. She also enjoyed baking, mostly because of her love of anything sweet and sugary.
Surviving is her mother; Erin Popolo and her husband, Joseph; father, Oscar Murillo; sister, Kaylee McCuen and her husband, Max; step-brothers, Dominic and Vincent Popolo; maternal grandmother, Dorothy Martin; paternal grandmother, Amelia Tijerino; aunts, Tara Martin and Maribel Murillo; uncle, Jay Martin and his wife, Linda, cousins, Jack Martin, Allison Madrigal, Justyn Madrigal and Jordy Madrigal, and many extended family and her small tribe of very close friends including her very best friend Tamer Elbana.
Calling hours will be at the BRUNSWICK MEMORIAL HOME, 454 Cranbury Road, East Brunswick on Saturday, February 6, 2021 from 1:00 PM - 5:00 PM with a service starting at 4:00 PM. The service will be live streamed and a link will be provided shortly.
