He was predeceased by : his parents, John Joseph Sr. and Agnes Cecilia Hallanan; and his wife Kathleen Pearl. He is survived by : his son John Joseph III; his daughter-in-law Elizabeth Hallanan; and his granddaughter Maeve Kathleen. He is also survived by numerous cousins, in-laws.

Visitation was held on Sunday, June 23rd 2024 from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM and on Monday, June 24th 2024 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Riotto Funeral Home & Cremation (3205 John F. Kennedy Blvd, Jersey City, NJ 07306). A funeral Mass was held on Tuesday, June 25th 2024 at 11:00 AM at the St. Aloysius Catholic Church (691 West Side Ave, Jersey City, NJ 07304). An entombment was held on Tuesday, June 25th 2024 at 12:15 PM at the Holy Name Cemetery (823 West Side Ave, Jersey City, NJ 07306).
