He is survived by: his wife Josephine Bates; his daughter Bonnie Bates-Mangan (Allan); his son-in-law Gary Gibbs; his granddaughters, Melissa, Katie, Brittany, Shannon and Ashley; and his siblings, Gerald Bates, Daniel Bates Jr., Jane Kish, Muriel Thompson and Joan Fogg. He is also survived by 12 great-grandchildren, 2 great great-grandchildren.
