He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph Balint and Priscilla Balint; and his nieces and nephews, Katie and Sipiwe. He is survived by: his wife Catherine; his daughter Scarlette; his siblings, John, Anna (late David), Paul, Clare and Peter; and his nieces and nephews, Krystina, Samantha, Luke, Josh, Sophie, Manu, Alexandra, Sebastian, Isabella and Ileanne.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Joe's memory be reserved for a fund to benefit his daughter Scarlette, which is currently being set up.
