He was predeceased by: his wife Sarah DiEdwardo; his daughter Debra Wall; and his siblings, Lee Eckel and Peggie Gaeta. He is survived by: his sister Dolores Griffin of Toms River; his children, Donna Eckel of Iselin, Raymond Walter Eckel, Jr. of Middletown and Steven Eckel of Jackson; and his pet Maggie. He is also survived by 16 grandchildren; and 21 great grandchildren.
