He is survived by: his wife Jane Oates; his children, Joseph Michael Oates (Cheryl) of California, John Michael Oates III of Seattle and Joann Marie Oates of Manalapan; and his grandchildren, Brendan, Tanner, Riley, Melanie, Michael, Kevin and David. He is also survived by many great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
