He was predeceased by: his wife Nelly Lopez; his daughter Beatriz Lopez; and his siblings, Luis, Aura, Dora and Piedad.

He is survived by: his daughter Karin Fernandez; his siblings, Jorge, Lauro, Nestor and Gloria; his grandchildren, Melody, William, Taisha, Bricil, Jessica and Tessie; and his great grandchildren, Angel, Angelise, Liam, Kase, Uriah, Kayla, Jada, Adriana, Sean, Serena, Gavin, Marissa, Alexis and Isaiah.
