He was predeceased by: his parents, John Michael and Helen Wachter (Hrenko); and his parents-in-law, Joseph John and Elisa Albanese (Gasdia). He is survived by: his wife Sandra; his children, Christine (Khalid), Anthony, Nicholas and Michael; his grandchildren, Briella and Ariana; his sister Maryann; his brother-in-law Michael Heckman; his nephews, Carl, Christopher and Andrew; and his pet Bella.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in John's honor to Autism Speaks.
