He is survived by: his children, Rebecca Josephine Gunther and Frederic Thomas Gunther (Rebecca); his grandchildren, Josephine, Adalee and Henry; his former wife Rev. Susan Gunther; and his siblings, Margaret Tettemer, Shirley Hastings, John Gunther and Alice Strawser.
