With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Claire C Backus of Hillsborough, New Jersey, who passed away on March 8, 2023 at the age of 96. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

She was loved and cherished by many people including: her parents, Rose Schmitt and Charles Schmitt; her husband George Backus; her daughter Alicia Glennon of Piscataway; her granddaughter Allison Hammer of Montclair; her children, Cathy Hammer (Dennis), Roseanne McDonald (James), Michael Backus (Barbara), Daniel Backus (Susan) and Amy Quinones (Hugo); her grandchildren, Karen Palko (Dan), Mary Kate Girardi (Jeff), James Glennon (Erica), Maura Glennon (Carlos), Michael Backus (Brittni), Kelly Backus, Claire Quinones, Jacob Quinones, Daniel Quinones and Kathleen Quinones; and also Kevin Glennon. She was also cherished by twelve beautiful children.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that any memorial donations be made to St Jude Children's Hospital.
