He was predeceased by: his parents, Anders Oiestad of Bergen and Gurid Oiestad (Fenne) of Voss, Norway.; his wife Maureen Oiestad (Hunt); his brothers, Howard and Kenneth; his grandson Dakota; and his friend Henry Sperry (Hank).
He is survived by: his daughters, Joanne Oiestad of Pompano Beach, Susan Oiestad of Fairhaven and Lois Cannon of Spring Lake, NJ; his stepdaughters, Kathryn Stripto of Pawleys Island and Jacqueline Hunt of Highland Lakes, NJ.; his grandchildren, Starr, Luke, Mike, Brian, William, Erik, Caitlin, Cassey, Samantha and Finley; his goddaughter Christine Donovan of Northville, NY; and also Barbara. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
