He was predeceased by: his wife Lillian R. Bakker; his father Leo Bakker; and his sibling Jackie Post (Richard). He is survived by: his children, Stephanie Lessner (Jeffrey) of Hawthorne and Michele Harris (Willie) of Hewitt; his grandchildren, Jamie and Victoria Lessner; his mother Jane Valentine; and his siblings, Janet O'Donnell (John), Patricia Colontrelle (Edward), Thomas Bakker (Sharon) and Arlene DenHeyer (Bruce). He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Hawthorne Volunteer Fire Company #3 or to the Hope Christian Services of Wyckoff.
