He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, William T. Helferich and Harriet Helferich (Bender); his wife Virginia Marie Bush; his son Paul Helferich; his sister Florence Frei Scott; his children, William S. Helferich, Rhonda Myers and Meryl Earl; his grandchildren, Kimberly Conti, Matthew Myers, Joshua Myers, Benjamin Myers and Emily Earl; and his stepgrandsons, Michael Sgarella, John Sgarella and Tony Sgarella. He was also cherished by four children.
