She was loved and cherished by many people including: her parents, William Aspdin and Claire Aspdin (Haegedorn); her husband George A. Paffendorf; her son Major George W. Paffendorf; and her grandchildren, George G. "Jerry" Paffendorf (Mary) and Devon Pierce Paffendorf (Christopher Lewonka).
The pandemic of 2020 was difficult. Joan contracted Covid-19 and recovered, a testament to her strength of body and spirit.
