He is survived by: his children, Deb Troiani (Chris), John Martinelli (Barbara) and Rob Martinelli (Amie); and his grandchildren, Matthew Troiani, Mark Troiani, Lauren Martinelli, Clay Martinelli, Katrina Martinelli, Alex Martinelli, Jenna Martinelli, Alfred, Lucy, Blaze and Scarlet.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of John C. Martinelli may be made in support of Dr. Zinner's lung research at Thomas Jefferson University.
