Maureen C. Leggiere Obituary
Maureen C. Leggiere, loving wife of the late Philip S. Leggiere and mother of two sons, Philip Guy Leggiere and Brian Keith Leggiere, passed away peacefully at the Allegro Senior Care Facility in Harrington Park, on November 30th at the age of 92. Born in the Bronx on March 10, 1931, Ms. Leggiere moved to Bergenfield, New Jersey in her early teens and was a long-time Bergen County resident, while living part of the year in southern Florida.
A graduate of Bergenfield High School, class of 1949, where she was captain of the cheerleading squad, Ms. Leggiere worked for several years as an elementary school teacher at St. Francis School in Ridgefield Park and St. Mary's School in Dumont. She also served as Secretary of the Bergen County Republican Committee.
An avid golfer, she and her husband were long-time members of the Knickerbocker Country Club in Tenafly, New Jersey.
In addition to her two sons, Ms. Leggiere is survived by five grandchildren, Chaim, Frances, Ilana, Nora, and Jack Leggiere, and by two siblings, Jacqueline Griesi and Paul Ives.
Visitation will be held on December 6th from 4 to 8 pm at Becker's Funeral Home in Westwood, New Jersey. The funeral mass will be celebrated at 10am on December 7th at Our Lady of Victory's Church in Harrington Park, New Jersey, entombment to follow a Garden of Memories All Faiths Mausoleum and Cemetery, Washington Township.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital.
