He was predeceased by: his parents, Orlando Barbati and Estelle Barbati (Wojcieckowski); his siblings, Carol Royer and Ronald; and his stepsister Marie Boelke.
He is survived by: his wife Christina Barbati (Melchiondo); his sons, Donald Barbati, Jr. (Staci) of Hamilton and Nicholas Barbati of Somerville; his sister Joan Barbati of California; and his granddaughters, Gabriella and Antonia Barbati. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
