He was predeceased by: his parents, Harold Donato and Edith Donato (Zaccaro); and his siblings, Linda Strenkoski and Nicholas Donato. He is survived by: his wife Claudia Sauceda; his sister Deborah Taylor (Mark); his sister-in-law Judith Donato; and his niece Deana Strenkoski.
