He was predeceased by: his parents, John Betz and Aloisia Kametler Betz; his wife Marie; his granddaughter Carley Jean Sample; his sister Dorothy Hogan; and his stepson Alan Dooney.
He is survived by: his nephew Michael Hogan; his stepchildren, Rena Dooney, Eileen Haag (Jim), Karen Dooney, Sharon Dooney, Nancy Heykoop (Robert), Jeffrey Dooney, Jill Etter (Edward), Kevin Dooney and Christopher Dooney; his grandchildren, William Sample, Heather White, Kelly Heykoop, Katie Heykoop, Elysia Hale (Justin), Rebecca Tovar (Arthur), Emily Etter and Samantha Pullin (Dakota); and his great grandchildren, Laila Heykoop, Taylor White, Adam Berend, Adalynn Muller and Liam Tovar of Arthur Tovar, III..
Viewing was held on Thursday, January 16th 2025 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Cochran Funeral Home (905 High St, Hackettstown, NJ 07840). A Mass was held on Friday, January 17th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the St. Mark's Church (59 Spring Ln, Long Valley, NJ 07853). A burial was held on Friday, January 17th 2025 at the Gates of Heaven (225 Ridgedale Ave, East Hanover, NJ 07936).
