He was predeceased by: his parents, Douglas L. Hinton and Jessie Hinton (Thomson); his former wife Mary Cathleen; his brothers, Stanley, Thomas, Jack and Donald; and his pet JoJo.

He is survived by: his wife Cathy; his siblings, Gary (Irene) and Jean (Robert); and his stepchildren, Rosmary Hluska, Elizabeth Edwards and David Lawless. He is also survived by twelve nephews and nieces.
