He was predeceased by: his wife Margaret Todd; and his sister Virginia Hammer. He is survived by: his children, Ginny Toal (Ned) and Peggy Grubbs (Chuck); his grandchildren, Kelly Jerrom (Peter), Jaime Fine (Zach), David Grubbs, Drew Toal (Stacy) and Adam Toal (Leila); his great grandchildren, Sophie, Sydney, Mae, Ellery, Charlie, Reece and Luke; and his sibling Lyn Hyson. He is also survived by several loving nieces and nephews.
