He is survived by: his wife Cathleen Matanle; his children, Elizabeth Spellman (Kevin), Molly Nieves (Brandon), Lynn Browne (Brandon) and James Keith Matanle; his grandchildren, Claire Nieves, William Spellman, Jack Nieves, Paige Spellman and Keith Browne; and his brother Stephen Hayward Matanle (Betsy).
