She was predeceased by: her parents, Perry C. Simmons and Lilly Dale Allen Simmons; her husband Oliver; and her siblings, James Simmons, Paul Simmons and Ruth Pettis.
She is survived by: her daughter Martha Newton (NJ) of New York City. She is also survived by nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and great, great nephews.
The family would be honored by contributions to the Southern Poverty Law Center, Montgomery, AL in Eleanor's memory.
