He was predeceased by: his brother David Amezquita; and his parents, Leoncio Amezquita and Obdulia Soto. He is survived by: his wife Julia L. Villavicencio; his children, Joao Amezquita, Fabian Amezquita and Karen Hurtado; his grandchildren, Thiago and Lucia Amezquita; his sisters, Olga Hurtado and Berta Amezquita; and his nieces and nephews, Catherine Chin, Michele Amezquita and Robert Hurtado.
