He was predeceased by: his wife Florence Ida Pelikan; his children, Ida Mae James and Robert E. Pelikan, Jr.; his grandson Robert "Bobby" Pelikan, III; and his friend Edna Goldy.

He is survived by: his grandchildren, P. J. James, Peggy Diaz and Joey Diaz.
