It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Joy Barta of Franklin, New Jersey, born in Pompton Plains, New Jersey, who passed away on January 10, 2021, at the age of 74, leaving to mourn family and friends. You can send your sympathy in the guestbook provided and share it with the family.

She was loved and cherished by many people including: her parents, Harold Whritenour and Pauline Whritenour of West Milford; her husband Barry; her sons, Michael Barta (Kathryn) of Hardyston and Matthew Barta (Jada) of Warwick, NY.; her grandchildren, Andrew, Jason and Skyler; and her siblings, Kenneth Whritenour (Sarina) of West Milford, Rose Lovas (Edward) of Florida and Michael Whritenour (Debbie) of Florida. She was also cherished by her nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers: Joy's passion of working with children and helping others was evident to all that knew her.

“I am Susan Lachemayer. I taught with Joy and lived in the same apartment complex as she and Barry. So, so, sorry hearing of Joy's passing. I had, last year, spoken with her about her visiting us down here at Hilton Head. Such a shock. So many memories. Both she and Barry gone too soon.”
