He was predeceased by: his parents, Melvin Burnett Sr. and Lula Burnett Sr. (Bryant); his sister Brenda Shields; his brother-in-law Eugene R. Bufford Jr.; and his nephews, Kieran Shields and Deshon Johnson.
He is survived by: his wife Renee Burnett (Johnson); his son Hamid; his daughter-in-law Christina Burnett; his daughter Brenee Johnson; his goddaughters, Kalita Cox and Khimberlee Kearney; his mother-in-law Mamie Timmons; his grandchildren, Sahara Newby, Harper Burnett and Hunter Burnett; and his sisters-in-law, Antoinette Johnson and Naomi Johnson. He is also survived by many nephews, nieces, spiritual sons and daughters and his Skate 22 Family members.
